The rails are square, the table is perfectly level, and the felt is appropriately tight - but the felt is on the cheaper side (and wool), so I fully expect to replace it in the next few years or so, depending on wear. As it was, the balls provided were indeed extremely cheap and prone to leaving a melt-mark on the felt (tested with a single mildly powerful shot), so I immediately went to the shop in question and got some Aramith balls (and wooden triangle and diamond racks, as I hated the plastic ones which were provided with the package).
We declined the additional services ($50 versus a $5000 table package), and in immediate retrospect this was foolish - assembling the chairs and side table was easy enough, but the trash removal aspect alone would have been well worth the extra 1%. They clearly have a better profit margin on their upsold products and services than anything they get from Costco. This is up to $1000+ cheaper to comparable tables at our local retailer and they don't have a table tennis conversion top (500$ at local dealer) which may Dad likes playing alot. and saw Costco is selling brunswick tables (In Canada at least) for 3700 CAD. Looked into some different entry level tables from some of the more reputable brands ie brunswick, canada billiards, olhausen etc. My parents have a cheap MDF one that I have played with quite a lot but Im not a fan of the cheap cloth and the crappy play of it so Ive been looking to get a nicer one for our place. We are looking into a pool table for our house for both decorative furniture and because I like to play and unwind.
